For individuals who live in a house they own, GHS homeowners insurance offers protection from many types of losses, including those caused by fire, theft, wind and lightning. At GHS, we also offer a variety of optional coverages to meet your more specific needs.
Dwelling Insurance
A type of insurance that provides coverage for a home you own, but may or may not live in.
Condominium Insurance
This is insurance designed to meet the coverage requirements of individuals living in a condominium. These policies are offered for assessed losses as well as personal property damage and liability protection.
Renter's Insurance
Whether you rent a home or an apartment, a renter's policy provides affordable protection for your personal property.
Schedule of Personal Property
Your homeowners policy will provide you with coverage for your personal items, but with deductibles and limitations, you may need more. A Schedule of Personal Property endorsement insures specified items at a higher dollar amount, and covers more perils than a regular homeowners policy. Consider this type of coverage for items such as:
- Cameras
- Jewelry
- Golf Equipment
- Silverware
- Furs
- Fine Art
- Stamp and Coin Collections
- and Musical Instruments

Why do I need insurance on my home or property?
Whether you rent or own, you've probably made a large investment in your dwelling and your personal property in it. A GHS policy can protect you against exposure to risks such as fire, theft or lawsuits by insuring your property and your legal liability.
What affects my rates?
- Location of your dwelling or the type of neighborhood you live in.
- The year your dwelling was built. The overall structure of a new home is likely to be in better condition than that of an older house. With GHS, a newer home can mean a discount of 5 percent to 20 percent on your premium.
- Distance to fire station or hydrant.
- The amount of coverage required and deductibles selected.
How can I reduce my rates?
- Install a security system with an outside signal and connection to local police. Equip all exterior doors with deadbolt locks.
- When buying a new home, choose a location near a fire station or hydrant.
- Purchase both your home and auto insurance from GHS to receive a multi-policy discount.
- Install a sprinkler system within your home.
- At GHS, we offer a variety of deductibles to choose from. Consider what you can afford compared to what you would be prepared to pay in the event of a loss.
- When buying a home, keep in mind that newer homes typically recieve a lower rate.
What discounts are available?
GHS offers a variety of discounts, including:
- Multiple-policy discount
- Several types of alarm credits
